What could you buy with R15.21?
A loaf of bread? A can of Coke? Tips for a couple of car guards? A small slab of chocolate on special?
Now that’s real value! Something worth spending money on. You see, R15,21 is the ‘gap’ between what the state old age grant pays, and the actual daily cost of accommodation, meals and care at Tafta.
Hardly worth worrying about, you’d think. But over the course of a month, that small daily ‘gap’ adds up to R472. And if you multiply that by the 1 868 elders who call Tafta home, you realise that we can’t provide the care and services older people need without your help.
If you can donate R212 you’ll fill the gap in their care for two weeks. And R472 covers the monthly shortfall for one elder in need. Any amount, given monthly, can make all the difference.
In return, you’ll have the satisfaction of knowing that, because you care, an elder like 79 year old Mrs M can enjoy a life worth living. She doesn’t have to worry about having a roof over her head, or enough to eat, or protecting herself from criminals who prey on vulnerable older persons.
She has a home at Tafta, surrounded by people who care, and is supported by a wider circle of ‘carers’ … people like you, who not only understand the plight of older people trying to make do on a woefully inadequate old age grant, but who are willing to step up and help.
Thank you for your kindness to our elders. May God bless you
