Tafta Golf Day, a swinging success

Friday, 26 May 2023 saw the return of our annual Corporate Golf Day fundraiser at the Mount Edgecombe Country Club. It was a huge success, raising over R100 000 towards our meal delivery service.

Over 30 corporates and businesses supported the event, either by participating or sponsorship of tees and prizes. We welcomed 14 four-balls to the scenic course and the day was filled with friendly rivalry, networking and contact building opportunities.

Golf Day success crowned with prize giving dinner

After the tournament, players enjoyed a prize giving dinner at the Country Club’s Kingfisher’s Room. Castle Sea CC (Shipping and Freight Agents) were the overall winners.

“As I arrived, I was greeted by a colourful display of banners and a group of warm, bubbly, friendly Tafta staff,” said Roy Peters, Director of Castle Sea CC. “The Tee sponsors providing refreshments added to the feel-good vibe. This set up the atmosphere for a good golfing day which led to our victory,” he said.

Tafta elders to benefit

Yoshina Kistensamy, Divisional Manager of Operations here at Tafta, was delighted with the golf day success. Proceeds will go towards our meal delivery service, which delivers over 11,500 meals directly to elders’ doors.

“It was overwhelming to receive support of this magnitude from the players, promoters and prize sponsors,” said Kistensamy. “We are so grateful for their support, and to those who contributed goods and services to ensure the success of our fundraiser.”

Tafta CEO, Femada Shamam, hopes that the success of the event will lead to more awareness around the needs of older people.

Spotlight on the needs of older people

“The shift in perspective that is found when spending time in the great outdoors is incomparable,” she said. “Being one with nature grounds us and reminds us that this earth is here for us all to enjoy meaningful life. This is one of the reasons we host a golf challenge in support of Tafta’s meal delivery service.

“In addition to being a great way to honour our donors with something they enjoy, the day also brings with it a sense of peace and enlightenment. In our own enjoyment, we are reminded that there are vulnerable members of society who rely on the goodness of others to access their basic needs.

“Through this event, we are able to engage with our donors and service providers to cast a spotlight on the need for affordable, convenient and nutritious meals for older people.”

If you would like to play your part in ensuring that older people have access to nutritional meals, please donate towards our meal delivery service.
