67 years of caring – now it’s your turn

For 67 years, Tafta has been a beacon of dignity and hope for older people in Durban.

This Mandela Day, we reflect not only on Nelson Mandela’s 67 years of service – but also on Tafta’s journey. A journey shared with caring and compassionate people like you, who have walked beside us every step of the way.

Just as Madiba gave of himself to build a better South Africa, we invite YOU to give back in honour of both his legacy – and ours.

Caring for the older members of our community – who were once leaders in their field – is an honour.

These are yesterday’s doctors, nurses, teachers, engineers, pilots, police officers and accountants. They served us well and now they need our help.

If you can donate R670 now, you’ll help support an independent, elderly Tafta resident for ten days. Your donation includes  safe and secure accommodation for one elder, three nutritious meals a day and access to social services.

Your donation of R6 700 provides care for a frail elder for ten days. Along with accommodation and meals, your contribution covers nursing care, toiletries and incontinence wear.

Donations of any amount towards the cost of care are gratefully received and will make a difference. Even R67 – given regularly each month – pays for deodorant, soap and toothpaste for one elder.

You can also help by donating one or more items from our 67 wishlist of needs.

And if you prefer a more personal involvement, you are welcome to spend 67 minutes connecting with our elders – chatting, reading to them or participating in crafts, puzzles and other games.

Please contact us on 031 332 3721 or email info@tafta.org.za.

Thank you for being a Mandela Day hero and joining Tafta in celebrating 67 years of caring for elders in need.
