Christmas is coming – and that can only mean one thing …
It’s time to start planning the best festive lunches ever for Durban’s elders! Real celebrations – with delicious food, festive cheer, music, companionship and laughter.
And we’re counting on friends like you to help us make it happen – by sponsoring the cost of one or more lunches.
At just R150 per person for a traditional 3-course feast, giving Christmas joy has never been easier.
Your donation provides:
A starter of chicken strips or stuffed mushroom. Roast lamb and chicken (or vegetable Wellington) with roast potatoes, gravy, stuffing and seasonal vegetable bake. Mini fruit cake and hot custard to end on a sweet note. A halal option is also available this year.
But, with over 1 500 elders hoping for an invitation to one of our lunches this year, we’re going to need all the help you can give. We can’t leave anyone out.
Going to the annual Christmas lunch means the world to 79-year-old Mrs V.
With only a government Old Age Grant to sustain her, she can’t afford special treats and meals out. “I don’t get out much at all any more,” she explains. “I have no family here – my daughter and grandchildren live overseas and I haven’t seen them in years. That’s why I look forward to the Tafta Christmas lunch so much. It’s a chance to dress up and have fun with my Tafta family.”
For elders like Mrs V, who are struggling financially or with poor health, your kindness makes all the difference between thriving and merely surviving.
Because, when you sponsor a lunch, you do more than just provide a meal. You remind an older person that they are valued and loved.
Please will you join together with other caring people in Durban to ensure the spirit of the season touches every older person who might otherwise feel lonely and left out?
Your donation of R150 sponsors one meal. R300 brings two friends together. And R900 fills a table of six with warmth and laughter.
Any amount you can give now helps create memories that will warm hearts long after the Christmas lights have dimmed. And spreading the Christmas spirit in this heartwarming way will surely add to your own enjoyment of the season.
Thank you for spreading happiness and togetherness.
