Always better to say ‘thank you’ in person

We often write or email thank you notes to our donors and supporters. But it’s not the same as thanking you in person, and giving you the opportunity to see for yourself the difference your donations make

That’s why we held our ‘Donor Tea and Tour’ this April at Tafta on Ridge in Overport. Invited guests were able to interact, share life stories and discuss issues and projects with Tafta staff and residents alike.

Femada Shamam (Tafta CEO) and Charmain Shandu (Vice Council Chairperson) provided feedback on our work, while Tafta on Ridge resident, Mrs Sarojini Govender, shared heart-warming testimony.

Tour of the building

Guests enjoyed a tour of the building, where they saw the different levels of accommodation provided (independent, assisted living and frail care). Additional services, such as prepared meals, wellness activities and social support were also highlighted.

The event culminated in a high tea, with treats generously sponsored by Blair Atholl KwikSpar and Tsebo Catering Solutions.

Donor appreciation

Tafta CEO, Femada Shamam expressed her gratitude to those who support our organisation. “Your support helps us shape a future where older people feel valued, loved, cared for and – more importantly – where they feel safe,” she said.

“Your generosity fuels our ability to dream, innovate and reach further than we have ever done before. From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank you for all that you do, and for being here today. I look forward to journeying with you further.”

With the importance of honouring those who sustain Tafta in mind, we’ll be inviting more donors to join us next time. Please keep an eye on your inbox for details to follow in the new year. As a partner in our work for Durban’s elders, we’d love to meet you and hear your feedback on what we’re achieving together.
