Festive joy – yours to give
Sometimes, the best Christmas gifts don’t come wrapped in shiny paper. They’re precious gifts of laughter … good company … and good food shared around a table.
And they’re yours to give this festive season
– when you sponsor an older person’s place
at the annual Tafta Christmas lunch.
For just R160, you can treat one older person to a delicious three-course Christmas feast – starting with savoury lamb meatballs and toasted garlic bruschetta, followed by slow-roasted leg of lamb, stuffed chicken with spinach and feta, and all the festive trimmings. There are delicious vegetarian options too, including a creamy mushroom coronation vol-au-vent. And to finish? Traditional fruit cake served with warm custard and a sprinkle of cinnamon.

But it’s not just about the food …
It’s a rare opportunity for our elders – many of whom live alone – to ‘dress up’ and come together to enjoy a good chat, laughter, music and dancing.
You have no idea how much that means to older people who have no family close by, and no one else to ‘go to’ for Christmas. Especially those reliant on an Old Age Grant which doesn’t stretch to meals out or special treats like chocolate or mince pies.
That’s why we’re hoping you’ll support us again, and chip in to sponsor one, two or more elders right now.
Even though we can serve a traditional three-course meal with all the trimmings for just R160 per person – when you multiply that by the 1 522 elders we’re planning to host this year, you’ll see why we need help.
If you are able to sponsor more than just one person it would be amazing! Your donation of R320 pays for two friends to enjoy lunch together. R640 sponsors a table of four and R960 sponsors a table of six.
Whatever your heart tells you to give, please will you donate now so we can make sure that no one is left out.
Our annual Tafta Christmas lunch has become a heart-warming tradition, kept alive for more years than we can remember, by the kindness of people like you.
Let’s all come together as a community once again, to make sure no older person feels left out and alone at this special time of year.
And may your own festive celebration be filled with the joy of knowing that someone else has a happy heart – because you cared.
