One good turn deserves another
Hard to believe that this saying, which dates back to the 15th century, is just as meaningful today as it was then! It’s a call to reward good deeds with reciprocal kindness or favours, creating a positive, ongoing cycle.
And what you might not know is that, as someone who supports Tafta, you are already part of it!
Your donation is an act of kindness that helps support older South Africans in need. And whilst you may not expect anything in return for your kindness, your reward comes in the form of a tax rebate that can reduce the amount owed to SARS on your annual tax return.
It doesn’t matter when you make your donation (any day of the year counts) … how much you give … or how many times you give. All donations made before 25 February 2027 count for the 2026/27 tax year.
4 easy steps to save tax
- Use the form on our website to donate towards elder care. It’s quick, easy and secure. Be sure to fill in the details required by SARS.
- Receive your Section 18 A Certificate from Tafta. This confirms your donation and allows you to claim your rebate from SARS.
- Upload your Certificate to e-filing when you complete your tax return. SARS subtracts the donation amount/s from your taxable income before tax is calculated, thus reducing the amount you have to pay.
- If you have questions, or need to update your details, email Madeleen at madeleenv@tafta.org.za
